Description
It was believed that the ancestral genetics of the P. Cubensis strain known as the Aztec God strain were initially found close to the remains of the ancient Aztec holy site Teotihuacan. According to Cardod-Artal (2015), P. Cubensis and other species of mushrooms were referred to as “Teonanácatl” in ancient Aztec civilization. This name means “god mushroom” in literal translation. In ancient Aztec culture, these mushrooms were frequently employed in religious rituals wherein participants would drink chocolate and eat Teonanácatl with honey in order to speak with the gods. The potency of the Aztec god is moderate when compared to other strains of P. Cubensis. The Aztec god is said to provide high degrees of physical relaxation, exhilaration, and mild visual changes.
