Description
The hallucinogenic tryptamine DMT, also known as N, N-dimethyltryptamine in medical parlance, has effects akin to those of psychedelics like LSD and psilocybin. DMT has been used for hundreds of years, and it’s frequently used in religious rites and customs. DMT is utilized largely for its psychoactive, hallucinatory properties.
The effects commonly experienced while using DMT, are:
Euphoria
Floating sensation
Visual and auditory hallucinations
Depersonalization/disassociation
Heightened sensation (touch)
Epiphany or ‘life changing experiences’
Spiritual insight
Though it has a long, if not distinguished history, DMT has never been the subject of as much discussion as its counterpart, despite its popularity. One of the most significant naturally occurring hallucinogenic substances is DMT, which is generated from the necessary amino acid tryptophan during regular metabolism and occurs in trace levels in people as well as numerous Amazonian plants (Ayahuasca). It has been shown that DMT differs from other traditional hallucinogens in that its psychological effects do not cause tolerance to develop.
